Completely Christmas - Challenge 48 ATG Square\rectangle

I always make separate inserts for cards, gone are the days of trying to put cards through printers, ain't worth it.  I do make some inserts as I go along, but mostly I don't.  This is because if I give cards to other people as gifts (i.e. boxed sets)  I like to put their address on the left hand side.  Dedications inside are always very simple, since a good card is often ruined by ill-fitting\inappropriate sentiments.  So, having gone to the trouble of setting up the graphics programme to make a card, resize\scale to a 5'' square, it's just as easy then to make the insert.

I use several programmes for inserts and cards generally.  Anything from simple Word processor \ using text boxes, Paint shop Pro graphics programme and probably one of my favourite's Microsoft Publisher. There is also a lot of free programmes out there, like paint.nett.

It's strange to think I'll dabble with anything from using the computer, to splashing around dies & paint etc to make my own backgrounds.  Yep!  Jack (Jill) of all trades, master of none.

Many layers, but just a puss

For some reason, probably the brightness of the card, you just don't particularly like the project, but continue to go with the flow.  Keeping with my obsession with the joy fold.

Passion for Promarkers - Challenge 280 New Beginings

I stuck the little top card the wrong way round,  actually I think I prefer it!   Since I did the other days challenged to use a different fold - I've been totally enchanted with this one.  It's an excellent platform to use all those heavy, double sided card that isn't suitable for matting and layering.

 ..............................

Joy fold this completes the card fully with no need of an INSERT.

A4 good quality card:  Cut a 5'' (or any size)  strip from portrait A4.  Score & fold at about 51\2''

Cut another piece 4'' strip.  Depending on your top embellishment \adjust,   Fold in middle this could be say: 8'' following the youtube demo

So, you have a big card and a little card.   I don't think it matters which way round the little card is fixed to the big one, above is a mistake .... but it works.

Mix and match according to your design pattern papers.

A note of using cryogen card &\or paper.  It's cream white, it slightly dulls both Promarkers & Inkjet. But there is an element of magic about it, that the sparkle remains on the surface and the colour pigment doesn't either dull  or alter it's luster\sparkle.  There is only one draw back with Promarkers, you can't over work it and it will bleed more than most.  But it really is a joy to work  with.  And with the matching paper, would make wonder wedding stationery.

How's it done

© Karen Middleton - S.Xmas_pixie

This first graphic\image is that from the online digital selection by Karen Middleton, google, but there is a link below on another of hers, her work is varied but a joy just to look through - you'll never come away without a must have.

From the first image, I have given it a light blue background with a white blur behind the baubles. The programme I use is Paintshop Pro 5.  Then from image two, the programme has produced a repeat as a pattern.  I have then placed image two on image three, to produce the last and final one.

I have however added some borders which can be seen on the final card.

Needless to say with all the artwork at your finger tips, it's very easy to produce a matching insert for the card, to make it complete.

Probably one of my favourite stamps, that don't need colouring - but adds that finishing touch to many projects, particularly textured hand-finished papers.  I have two Cherry Lynn dies and have to say they cut so beautifully clear with no effort to remove or deface the lush finish.  Some cards need to be seen and I've made several attempts to capture the finish on this card, but without success  settling for a scanned image in the end.

This is, even if I say so myself a very pretty little card, unfortunately my photography doesn't match.  Some I photograph, some I scan - depending on embellishments or natural light available.  I do try to bring them back to a natural appearance by putting the photographs through Paint Shop pro, but it doesn't always work :( ... considering these are stood a brilliant white card ... makes you wonder where the colour goes. I made and didn't photograph, can you believe 8'' display box collage, as an everlasting card.  I suppose another foible of mine is the eye on the postage & damage in the post.  Having just paid £2.70 for three thin cards (one outer envelope) to France.  Much respect therefore goes to suppliers who offer exceptional prices & free P&P.
